Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Debuts, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo and Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the upcoming animated film.

The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Beloved Titles

Much like the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some familiar faces, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.

Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow

The movie will see the return of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

A Big Year for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive close to the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo has three new games publicly declared for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
